Kayaking in the Aosta Valley with Totem Adventure
A guide will accompany you in a single or tandem kayak ! A brief pre-departure briefing on technique and safety… and off you go!
To navigate the rapids of the Dora Baltea on your own, you’ll need about 3 years of kayaking experience, but with a guide and a Topo Duo, you can experience the same thrills right from your very first trip!

- A towel and everything you need to take a hot shower after your workout.
- A swimsuit to wear under the wetsuit we provide...
- A technical T-shirt and a pair of thin leggings (synthetic fabric, Capilene, Lycra, microfleece, etc.) to wear under your wetsuit. This isn't required, but it's recommended in case of bad weather. What we do advise against, however, is cotton, because it makes your skin feel cold.
- Warm clothes for “after rafting”—don’t forget we’re in the mountains!

SAFE ADVENTURE
Kayaking Course with Totem Adventure
Kayaking is definitely ” the essence of the river,” but it takes a little more time before you can tackle the big rapids.
We start where the water is calmest, usually at Lake La Salle. The first goal is to get comfortable with the kayak and “paddle straight.” Once you’ve mastered that—which usually takes about an hour—we’ll move to where the water is more choppy, into the first currents flowing into the lake.

Tandem Kayaking Experience with Totem Adventure
There will be a pre-departure briefing to help you get familiar with the kayak, and once the guides see that you’re ready, we’ll head out to tackle the real rapids.
The same waves you saw while rafting are much bigger when you’re kayaking.

When?
These activities take place on weekdays, especially during the high season.
Kayaking Course
Minimum age: 12 years old- Total Duration: 3 hours
- Kayaking: 2 hours

Tandem Kayak
Minimum age: 14- Total Activity Time: 2h
- Kayaking: 1h
- Pre-departure briefing to get familiar with the tandem kayak, and once the guides see that you’re ready, we’ll head out to tackle the real rapids.
Why is a tandem kayak so expensive?
For each person, we need two guides: one to accompany you in a tandem kayak and another to follow you in a single kayak, to ensure your safety.
