Rescue 3 becomes the official standard for Swiss fire brigades
It is official: Rescue 3 becomes the national standard for fire brigades in Switzerland
Around the table are the president of Rescue 3 Europe Jonhatan Gormanthe director of the Swiss Fire Brigade Federation Robert Schmidlthe Head of Training Jean Philippe Crosetthe Sgt. Maj. Nicholas Millot responsible for training the Geneva Fire Brigade and David Alemanni director of SAFE - European School of River and Flood Rescue and head of Rescue 3 for Switzerland.
This is the fruit of hard work started more than 10 years ago by Sgt Millot and Alemanni and many others who believed and sweated to bring this project forward.
Millot, attended an SRT course (the first module for river and flood rescue technicians) organised by SAFE® in Geneva in 2003 and was enthusiastic. Beyond the validity of the techniques proposed by Rescue 3, he especially liked the idea of having a single standard, a shared modus operandi for river rescue that could be applied throughout Switzerland and beyond.
Since the first course to date, courses have been held for basic and advanced river rescue technicians, specialisation workshops for vehicle rescue in water, weir rescue, consultancy for securing artificial dams in urban environments and much more.
From this year, David Alemanni, Instructor trainer for Rescue 3, will coordinate the training of fire brigade instructors who in turn will train rescue workers within the commands.
Good work everyone!
I want to go back to the official River Rescue website
