TAMUR RIVER

Trekking and Rafting at East Nepal

Totem Adventure awaits you with a detailed map of Nepal, highlighting provinces, cities and the Tamur region. An insert reveals Nepal's Asian location. Perfect for planning your next outdoor experience in this majestic land! Rafting Kayaking Paragliding Canyoning Aosta Valley

The adventure starts from Kathmanducapital of the Nepal, a multicoloured city, a city of merchants, of wonderful local handicrafts, a destination for all travellers and the departure point for many Himalayan itineraries. By plane and bus we cross Nepal to the east to Basantapura small village at the end of the carriage road. From here we organise all the equipment which we will use in the river in packs, which the porters will carry on foot across the mountains. With them we will walk for three days in a wonderful trekking crossing mountains, encountering small villages, temples, accompanied by the friendly smiles of the locals, until we reach the Tamur Valley. If we are lucky, November is usually the best month, we will have breathtaking scenery of the great 8000 such as Makalu and Kanchenjunga. Arriving at Dobhan, we will camp on the banks of the Tamur and after organising all the river equipment let's start browsing.

The Tamur awaits us with its crystal-clear water. We will have 7 days to know its secrets; we will sail in complete self-sufficiency for almost 180 kmalternating between large rapids and calm stretches where we simply let ourselves be carried along by the current. Life on the river is a wonderful adventure. You get up early in the morning, prepare a hearty breakfast and set up camp. All the equipment is carefully loaded and strapped onto the dinghies, already organised in containers and watertight bags. A little yoga as a 'warm-up' and the sailing begins. Each day we spend 3-5 hours in the water. We stop along the banks for lunch and continue on to the best beach, where we set up camp again for the night. BEER O'CLOCK! A good drink and snacks and it's time for dinner, sitting on the ground around the fire, chatting under the stars and telling each other anecdotes of the day.
