Rafting Expeditions around the world
Travelling on rivers gives you access to the most secret places on Earth.
Some places are accessible only by water, where the roads don’t reach. Our expedition is a blend of nature, adventure, action, culture and team spirit. There is no need to be experts in rafting to join us! Just come to the preparation day on our base in Italy. The people who chose this kind of holiday usually are energetic and flexible, curious and with a positive attitude. If you have already done a little bit of camping, that helps and if it is your first experience, you will learn quickly. Everyone participates actively not only in life on the river, but also in pitching up the tents, loading and unloading the rafts every day, and who wants can help in the kitchen! It is a simple life, in tune with the elements, in good company and in an unique and totally remote place.
Nepal November 2023
Why Nepal?
Nepal is a small country, less than 200 km wide, situated between China and India; its territory contains nine of the highest peaks in the world, tropical jungle, thirty different indigenous groups, six languages and many dialects, two main religions and over nine hundred temples; all this is just a glimpse of what makes Nepal intricate and beautiful.
The Mecca of rafting.
Nepal has always been a destination for explorers, travelers, high-caliber mountaineers and trekkers. What few people know is that the best rivers in the world descend from the Himalayas and in particular Nepal. Nepal is considered the “mecca” of world kayaking and rafting.

Tamur river - Trekking e Rafting in Est Nepal
The Tamuris the easternmost river ofNepal. It flows near the border with Sikkim, India.
Born from one of the large 8000, the Kanchenjunga and flows with a good slope to the confluence with the Sun Koshi, in Tribenighat, forming the huge Sapta Koshi(1) that bends south through the hills of Mahabharat, reaching the plain of the Ganges.mando l'enorme Sapta Koshi(1) che piega verso sud attraversando le colline del Mahabharat, raggiungendo la pianura del Gange.
(1) Sapta Koshi means 7 rivers. Its tributaries are Indrawati, Bhote Koshi, Tamba Koshi, Dudh Koshi, Liku, Arun, Tamur
The adventure starts from Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, multicolored city, city of merchants, wonderful local crafts, destination of all travelers and departure of many Himalayan itineraries By plane and bus we cross Nepal eastwards to Basantapur, a small village at the end of the road.
From here we organize all the equipment that we will use in the river in packages, which carriers will carry on foot through the mountains.
With them we will walk for three days in a wonderful trek through mountains, meeting small villages, temples, accompanied by the friendly smiles of the locals, until you reach the valley of Tamur.
If we are lucky, November is usually the best month, we will have breathtaking scenery of the large 8000 as the Makalu and Kanchenjunga.
Once in Dobhan, we will camp on the bank of the Tamur and after organizing all the river equipment we will start the navigation.
The Tamur awaits us with its crystal clear water. We will have 7 days to know its secrets; we will sail in complete self-sufficiency for almost 180 Km, alternating the great rapids to the quiet stretches where we will simply be carried away by the current.
River life is a wonderful adventure. You get up early in the morning, prepare a hearty breakfast and take off the field. It is loaded and carefully binds all the equipment on inflatables, already organized in containers and watertight bags. A little yoga like "warming up" and you start browsing.
Every day we will spend in water 3-5 hours.
We stop along the banks to have lunch and continue until we reach the best beach, where we set up camp again for the night.
BEER O'CLOCK A good aperitif and snacks and it’s time for dinner, sitting on the ground around the fire, chatting under the stars and telling us the anecdotes of the day.

Can I take part in the Nepal expedition if I have only rafted once or twice?
The answer is YES, of course you can do it.
How much does it cost?
Those who have already traveled with us, know the philosophy of Totem Adventure: giving participants the opportunity to choose "how to travel."
The basic cost refers to the trip from Kathmandu to Kathmandu.
We also offer a number of additional services that you can enjoy if you want.
If you are a "do it yourself" traveller, you can choose only the "Base" package and arrange the logistics before and after the shipment. (international flights, domestic flights, hotels, taxi transfers...)
If this is your first time traveling to Asia, we recommend taking the "Kathmandu no problem" package.
