{"id":2832,"date":"2017-11-27T09:02:14","date_gmt":"2017-11-27T08:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/totemadventure.com\/?p=2832"},"modified":"2017-11-27T09:02:14","modified_gmt":"2017-11-27T08:02:14","slug":"trekking-rafting-nepal-tamur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totemadventure.com\/en\/trekking-rafting-nepal-tamur\/","title":{"rendered":"Totem Adventure expedition in Nepal finished!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Quoting Steinbeck: \"People do not make journeys, it is journeys that make people.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The expedition to the Tamur River in eastern Nepal ended a few days ago.<\/p>\n<p>Departing from Kathmandu, we crossed the whole of Nepal to the far east by plane and bus, continued on foot for 4 days of trekking in the remote Milke Danda range, with the marvellous view of the great 8000, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Everest to reach the mythical Tamur, the great river that springs from Kanchenjunga. From here, in total self-sufficiency, we navigated its crystal-clear waters to its confluence with the Sapta Koshi, in the Terai plain, just before it meets the mother of all Himalayan rivers in India: the Ganges.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A group of fantastic people, with great energy, flexible, curious and with whom we shared sometimes carefree, sometimes challenging moments. But above all, a group with whom we shared one of the most beautiful descents in the world, paddling the great rapids of the Tamur and having a lot of laughs around the campfire in the evenings.<\/p>\n<p>For many of the participants it was their first experience, but they all quickly learnt 'life on the river' by actively participating in making the organisation of the expedition work, not only by paddling, but also with less 'noble' jobs such as setting up tents, loading rafts, setting up camps and much more!<\/p>\n<p>A rafting expedition in the Himalayas is not just a simple rafting trip. It is a moment of powerful sharing, where people can <em>and must<\/em> leaving one's social role, one's mask, one's daily routine at home.
